ABOUT US

SMASH HIT offers songwriting led music lessons in primary schools for the first time. In small groups, children will not only learn how to play an instrument but they will be taught how to write their own song in a fun, educational and collaborative environment!

Each term, all children will embark on a unique journey to learn how to write, perform and record the music and lyrics to their own original song. In addition to this, by the end of term, children will have learnt a range of instrument skills and music terminology. All whilst working as a team, growing in confidence and contributing to the school curriculum.

SMASH HIT is a chance for children to express themselves creatively and discover the limitless nature of not only music but of themselves.

OSCAR WENMAN-HYDE

Company Director

Oscar Wenman-Hyde is a musician based in Gloucester, UK. As a child, Oscar often found it hard to fit in at school and in social situations. However, once he picked up a guitar at the age of twelve, everything changed. After being inspired from a young age to write songs as a means to express himself, Oscar remained passionate about this creative outlet and went on to graduate with a BA Hons in Songwriting at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute. Shortly after, he graduated with a Masters in Songwriting and Production from the University of South Wales. Outside of this, Oscar has built a career for himself as an independent singer-songwriter. He has not only gained BBC radio play but he is also a composer for film. Oscar launched SMASH HIT as a way of breaking the music educational barrier with something inclusive, fun and most importantly, expressive.
