New for 2026, the Community Song is a unique annual project where all primary school children enrolled with SMASH HIT Songwriting School have the chance to write an original song together. Every child across the UK remotely contributes to the lyrics, melody, or music, and the project aims to set a world record for the most songwriters on a single song. This experience celebrates creativity, collaboration, teamwork, and the power of young voices.

AT YOUR SCHOOL

🏆 Music Education Initiative of the Year 🏆

South West Prestige Awards 2025/26 Winner

All of the songs featured here have been written and recorded by primary school children aged four to eleven. Each band includes drums, bass, guitar, keyboard and vocals, and every track has been professionally produced to reflect both the quality of the work and the educational journey behind it.

At the start of each term, pupils embark on a structured and inspiring process in which they learn to compose, rehearse, perform and record the music and lyrics to their own original song. Alongside this creative development, they built instrumental technique on their chosen instrument, musical understanding and subject-specific vocabulary.

These outcomes represent more than a musical achievement. They reflect collaboration, perseverance and a shared commitment to excellence. Through teamwork and mutual support, the children take genuine ownership of their learning, which contributes to the school curriculum in both Music and English
